The Challenge
Dolphin Energy is one of the largest natural gas producers and transporters in the Middle East, with operations spanning Qatar, UAE, and Oman and a stakeholder network that includes government entities, major industrial clients, international partners, and a large employee base..
The seasonal and corporate greetings brief presented a specific set of challenges. Dolphin Energy needed digital e-greetings for multiple occasions across the calendar — UAE National Day, Eid Al Fitr, Eid Al Adha, the Islamic New Year greetings etc that would be distributed via instagram (social media) and internal server to a combined audience including C-suite partners, government contacts, international investors, and internal employees.
The design needed to walk a careful line: culturally appropriate and locally resonant without being generic; visually premium without being ostentatious; brand-consistent without being cold.
The Approach
Kmistree established a design system for the Dolphin Energy e-greeting, a set of templates, visual language rules, and processes that could be adapted efficiently for each occasion while maintaining a consistent premium standard across the full year.
The visual language for the e-greeting system was built on three foundations: the Dolphin Energy brand identity (colour, typography, logomark), bespoke original illustration commissioned specifically for each major occasion, and a layout architecture designed for social media (square formats – static and animated), and internal banners.
For Eid greetings, the design approach drew on geometric patterns derived from traditional Islamic architectural motifs — adapted and abstracted into a contemporary design language in corporate colors. Each greeting was produced in English and Arabic versions with bilingual text.
The Output
- Primary logo in four approved colour variants (full colour on white, full colour on navy, white reverse, single-colour monotone)
- Geometric brandmark / pattern (symbol only) for use at small sizes and as a standalone icon was created
- Full typography system: primary typeface (serif for headlines), secondary typeface (sans-serif for body), approved weights and sizes
- Colour palette with CMYK, RGB, HEX and Pantone references for both print and digital production
- Brand standards document (PDF, 24 pages)
- Master artwork files in AI, EPS, PDF, PNG and SVG formats
- Application mockups: Business card, letterhead, presentation cover, CD cover, social media profile, website, document folder, stamps etc.
The Outcome
The Dolphin Energy e-greeting design task has been maintained continuously by Kmistree for multiple years up to 9-8 years. The consistency and quality of the greeting system has been cited directly by the Dolphin Energy communications team as a factor in strengthening partner and stakeholder relationships.
Internal & external feedback from Dolphin Energy after the first year of the new e-greeting system noted a marked improvement in employee engagement with corporate communications on social media. The team has received many significantly higher engagement (reactions and shares) than the previous template-based content.
